Infamous Murders
Infamous Murders: Society Murders.
Looks at three brutal killings in the highest echelons of society. In 1955 in Long Island, wealthy racehorse owner William Woodward was shot and killed by his wife who claimed she mistook him for a prowler. Was it really an accident? In 1974, British aristocrat Lord Lucan disappeared on the same night his children's nanny was murdered in the home of his former wife. Did he mistake the nanny for his wife? And we look at the 1943 murder of Sir Harry Oakes in the Bahamas, which remains unsolved. cc

Infamous Murders
Bizarre Murders.
Looks at three strange murders and possible motives. In 1974, in Amityville, New York, six members of the Defeo family were shot to death while in bed. Sole survivor and eldest son Ronald confessed--the motive money. In 1985, mountain gorilla researcher Dian Fossey was hacked to death at her Rwandan research center. Probably killed by poachers, her murder remains unsolved. In 1982, the head of Italy's largest privately owned bank was found hanging from a London bridge. Was Robert Calvi really a suicide? cc

It will demand all of the Red Baron's considerable skill just to survive. cc

Man, Moment, Machine
Wernher von Braun and the V2 Rocket.
In 1942, Hitler demands a silent, deadly weapon that is capable of completely destroying London in a matter of days. At a top-secret facility, young physicist Wernher von Braun complies, creating the world's first supersonic rocket-powered delivery system. Armed with a warhead, von Braun's V2 rockets become Hitler's last hope and the world's first ballistic missile. The "V" stands for vengeance--and Hitler plans to rain down thousands of V2s every day on the Allies. Hitler believes his V2 arsenal will change the course of WWII. Join us as we explore history's fusion of man, moment, and machine--the life of von Braun, his incredible invention, Hitler's plan to destroy London, and with war's end imminent, von Braun's hidden treasure of technical documents and carefully planned surrender to the Americans. Hosted by former Navy "Top Gun" pilot Hunter Ellis. cc

 10-11pm

Man, Moment, Machine
Doolittle's Daring Raid.
It's 1942--the height of WWII. Bombers have never before taken off from an aircraft carrier, but the moment has come. Daredevil pilot Jimmy Doolittle and his handpicked squadron train for a one-way mission using modified B-25s. They're on a mission to bomb Tokyo, avenge Pearl Harbor, and hopefully bring an end to the war. There is not enough fuel for them to land safely. They know they will either make history, or die trying. In this episode, host Hunter Ellis examines The Man--celebrated pilot Lieutenant Colonel James H. Doolittle; The Machine--the B-25 Bomber; and The Moment--Doolittle's dramatic raid on Japan. cc
